It may not have been the dream debut season hoped for in the Bathurst Football Association's top grade but for Cowra's coach, Sean Leyland, he admitted he would have taken a finals appearance at the start of the year.

On Sunday, Cowra were knocked out in the elimination final by third place getters Lithgow Workies' at Proctor Park in Bathurst.
Two first half goals to Lithgow laid the platform for the victory as they prevented Cowra from passing their goalkeeper for the entire 90 minutes.
Cowra had their chances in the opening half but a lack of opportunities strangled their hopes as Lithgow ended their gallant 2015 campaign.
"I would have settled for what we've achieved [at the start of the season] but when you make finals you raise your hopes so it's still disappointing," Cowra coach Sean Leyland said.
"We put in a pretty good effort for the season, the combination of last year and this year; stepping up with a young team is a really good experience, it's pretty satisfying."
Despite holding Workies' to a 1-all draw the week earlier in Lithgow, Cowra failed to build as much pressure in the elimination final as Lithgow dominated possession and opportunities during the match.
"They were the better side, they deserved to win," Leyland said.
"The disappointing thing for me was their two goals came from mistakes, they weren't good goals, they could've been prevented.
"But they held most of the possession and we didn't pressure them enough," he said.
As Cowra now look forward to their off season, Workies' progress to this weekend's preliminary final against Abercrombie FC who were defeated by CSU Bathurst.
The winner will meet CSU in the 2015 Bathurst Football Association first grade grand final.
For Cowra, they'll begin planning their 2016 campaign early next year, when they decide whether they'll feature in the top tier again.
"I think we will, there's a few questions over some players' availability but it depends on who comes into town," Leyland said.
"Hopefully we can, we wouldn't want to take a step back now."
And as for Leyland continuing his coaching role?
"I think so, I'll give it some time though, I've been coaching for 22 years straight now," he answered.
"I probably will go again but I'll give it some time until I decide."
Lithgow Workies' 2 defeated Cowra 0.
