Highly respected Wiradjuri elder Robyn Coffey was recognised for her outstanding contribution to education together with year 12 student Christopher Colemane for Academic Excellence in an HSC course.
Aunty Robyn began her tenure at Cowra High School in 2008 as an in-class tutor and now acts as the Aboriginal Community Liaison Officer (ACLO) and Aboriginal student attendance officer, fulfilling both roles with distinction. A passionate and inspiring individual, she is a strong advocate in the school for Aboriginal children. She is the leader and driving force of the comprehensive Aboriginal Programs team that has a clear focus on improving the outcomes of indigenous students at Cowra High School.
An invaluable, motivated member of staff, Robyn is committed to Cowra High School and public education in general and stands firm in her belief that education is the key to a successful future for everyone.
Christopher's committed approach has seen him earn an A Grade in the Industrial Technology course. He has set a solid platform for the HSC and was commended on his ability to apply himself consistently and work independently.
The Cowra Local AECG (Aboriginal Education Consultative Group) also grabbed a gong being recognised for their service and support to Aboriginal education achievements within the Western 1 area.
