Aboriginal students involved in the program were able to learn more about their roots than they are able to in the regular school curriculum.
The boys and girls participated in some activities together, such as a river dreaming canoeing trip which taught them about the importance of water to their ancestors.
The girls learnt how to weave baskets and also painted a beautiful mural for the whole school to enjoy.
The boys learnt some traditional dancing.
The students were assisted in the program by a range of local people and organisations including Tafe NSW, Cowra High School, Local Land Services, Cowra PCYC and Cowra Council
The program is in its thirteenth year, and looking to increase the amount and variety of activities available for the participating students.
