Weeroona Aged Care is nearing completion of a multi-million dollar refurbishment to give residents more space, privacy and comfort.

Thirty-eight bedrooms are getting a facelift, with new centralised storage giving residents in the 2 bed shared rooms more privacy.

Ensuites are also being built in some rooms and all residents will ultimately get their own televisions.

Director of Nursing Bronwyn Sharp said they've received nothing but positive feedback about the renovations from residents and their families.

"This renovation is enabling the facility to go into the future. Aged care is going to change a lot in the future, you've got the generation of baby boomers who will be entering aged care so it's allowing them to have more choice," Ms Sharp said.

It's not just the bedrooms getting a freshen-up though.

Communal areas are also undergoing an overhaul ready to be filled with brand new furniture.

"[The idea was] to improve the ambiance of the place, to make it more inviting and more like coming home," Ms Sharp said.

"No one wants to leave their home they've lived in for so many years, but this is the next best thing. This is your home away from home."

Weeroona was built in the 1970s, undergoing several major refurbishments throughout the years.

When the renovations are complete, the facility will accommodate up to 95 residents.
