The lyrics "We are one but we are many" rang true as old and new friends came together to share each other's food and culture at the Cowra Neighbourhood and Information Centre.
Helping to run the celebrations was Rhee Ryan, who said the turnout was better than she expected.
"[Today] is about everybody who calls Australia home respecting and accepting [each other]. We are a multicultural society and we all have a right to be here and to be treated fairly," Ms Ryan said.
"I'm hoping everybody takes back a little bit of knowledge about what Harmony Day is, a lot of people didn't know about it until they came today. I hope they go and are a little bit more respectful of other people's cultures."
In attendance was Pedro Fuentes, who moved to Cowra with his wife Majarita three years ago.
The Chilean couple are regularly at the multicultural group meetings, which Mr Fuentes said are "full of good people who help a lot".
"We're very happy to be here [in Cowra]," Mr Fuentes said.
"We used to live in Sydney and you could ask someone for directions there and they don't hear you. In Cowra we're heard."
The centre runs regular events for people from all backgrounds.
