Constable Rheinberger has been a police officer in Orange for three years, assigned with general duties; she is excited to take on her new role here in Cowra.
"I enjoy the work in Highway Patrol," she said.
"Since I have been in Cowra I think the most interesting job I have had as when we caught someone going 135km/h between Forbes and Grenfell," she said.
Her arrival at the Cowra station means its Highway Patrol team has doubled in numbers this year, and is expected to grow by one more, with the allocation of a Sergeant to the unit in the coming months.
Acting Sergeant, Chris Pethick, of Cowra Highway Patrol says the increase in numbers merely reflects the need for more highway officers in the area.
"Cowra's demographics have changed, and we now have enough serious crashes to warrant more highway police," he said.
"We will be able to provide more coverage with our increased numbers.
"With more visibility we hope there will be fewer severe accidents and fatalities," he said.
The highway office at the police station will be remodelled to fit the team which will have grown by three, to five by early next year.
Orange police station has also been allocated additional Highway Patrol Officers in a bid to improve road safety in the region.
