Although winding down for the year many members are still busy with community and charity projects.
The spinners demonstrated their techniques to a group from Bilyara who visited the Art Rooms on 28 October. Amongst the visitors was a long time member Joan Gay.
The craft ladies thoroughly enjoyed their 'Chicken Scratch' workshop and many are now making bags, using these patterns, to be filled with toiletries for Mum's for Christmas. Others are knitting teddies and rabbits for the children. All these items are to be given to Cowra Family Support on December 2 at a special morning tea in the Art Rooms.
Kim Withers and Margaret Lea have been busy setting up new art displays, one in our work rooms and the other, featuring Coral Lancaster, in the Visitor's Centre. Both are examples of talented artists within our group.
The quilters are finishing later this year as they are busy with two charity projects. An extra work day is necessary to finish patchwork blocks (already 32 made) for the Aussie Hero project which involves the finished blocks being sent to Berrima Patchwork where they are used to make quilts for Aussie Troops serving overseas. The quilters are also donating a quilt to the Gay family to assist with their suicide fundraiser.
As our vice-president moved to Bowral, the Executive Committee selected Robyn Wright to fill her positon and Chris Hatton as a general committee member.
The last meeting for the year will be held on 25 November and the last social event for the year is the Christmas Party at the Japanese Gardens on 2 December at 12pm. Enquiries to Chris Hatton on 6342 1314.
