Grenfell’s forwards were able to out-muscle the Roosters pack and this gave our backs the room they needed. Big prop Matt Tozer (the Dozer) played the game of his life bulldozing his way through the Peak Hill forwards.
He was backed up with strong running by Steven Ingram, Chris Dixon and Brendan Hewen.
The backs played a big part in the win with Menna and Mick Stallard making ground at will and Mark Horne directed the team around the park well.
Peak Hill are one of the better attacking sides that can put 50 points on a side very quickly and, to control them as well did as we did, set up the win.
Grenfell ran out winners 42 points to 30 and kept their final hopes alive. A win against Condo this weekend will cement our spot. Players player went to Steven Ingram however, this was a real team effort. Well done everyone.
After an exciting 42-30 win over Peak Hill last Sunday at Lawson Park the Grenfell Goannas First Grade team will need to do it all again at Condobolinthis Sunday.A win over the Condobolin Rams will put the Goannas in a strong position to nudge ahead of Peak Hill in the race for the remaining semi final spot.Condo have a good home record this season but the Goannas have shown some good late season form through better combinations and a positive attitude.
Youth League went down to Peak Hill last Sunday at Lawson Park 34-26 in a high standard match. This Saturday they travel to Gooloogong to take on the Canowindra Tigers with an opportunity to sew up 2nd position on the Competition Table. These sides have already met three times this year with only a couple of points separating them on each occasion.Another close tussle is assured and a Grenfell win will see a 3 game to 1 advantage to them heading into the semi finals.
Last Sunday the League Tag girls had a practice match after they received a forfeit from Gooloogong. They travel to Condobolin this Sunday and it should be a good test of where they are in this competition as they take on the cup favourites. The girls have consolidated 4th spot on the table and they are continuing to improve and their numbers are good.
Game Times are as follows:
League Tag - V Condobolin at Condobolin 12.50pm Sunday
First Grade - V Condobolin at Condobolin 2.00pm Sunday
Youth League - V Canowindra at Gooloogong 1.40pm Saturday
