Tourists can access information about Cowra around the clock using a mobile app and upgraded touchscreen service launched at the town’s Visitor and Information Centre.
With the launch of the free-to-download Take You There App, the Tourism Touchscreen’s network will be accessible through smartphones and tablets.
“One in two visitor inquiries on a smart phone device now results in a booking...by the end of 2013, people accessing the internet via portable devices will overtake those accessing it via traditional PCs, so this is a great way to access those potential visitors,” Belinda Virgo, Cowra Tourism manager said.
The Tourism Touchscreen will complement the daytime services offered by the centre’s staff, letting after hours visitors find information about local businesses.
Ms Virgo said the new look touchscreen is a welcome addition to the Visitor and Information Centre.
“The information kiosk based at the centre and the new phone app offers our visitors a 24-hour information service, an important offering during a time where fast access to reliable information is key for the travelling smartphone market,” she said.
Neil Sharwood, Tourism Touchscreen Network Project Manager, said through new technologies such as the Take You There app, Cowra as a tourist destination could gain exposure to millions of travellers nationally and overseas.
