Located on the Western side of the Lachlan River at Bill Robinson Park, the $15,000 facility includes dog agility equipment, jump throughs, weave poles, and a dog maze.
“This one-acre site is the first dedicated dog leash-free area in Cowra and is a fantastic facility that I recommend to all dog-owners in our Shire,” Cr West said.
“As well as a barbecue and official opening, Pauline Gill from Tapua Kennels at Woodstock will be putting her dogs through their paces on the new equipment to show how much fun our new facilities are for both owners and pets.”
The pleasantly-located facility also incorporates London plain trees for shade with seating and drinking stations for both pets and owners and bag dispenser and waste collection facilities.
“The dog agility equipment is all made from fully-recycled material with each 50kg of equipment recycling 1250 two-litre milk bottles; that’s 2.5 cubic metres of landfill that has been saved,” Cr West said.
Local vets and members of local dog clubs will also be in attendance with the public invited to bring their dogs - which must be restrained at all times - to the opening.
“We’re starting at 9.30am on Saturday February 16, parking is available adjacent to the area and the low-level bridge will be shut from 9.15–11.15am on the day,” Cr West said.
