Canowindra Tigers have dominated their Round 11 clash coming away with a 42-10 win over Molong Bulls.
Players player honours were shared between Andrew Bennett and Zac Hunt at the end of an away game where the whole team combined for the win.
Bennett opened the scoring for the Tigers as the sides battled out a tough and entertaining first half of Woodbridge Cup footy, it was in the second half that the Tigers really took it away.
Bennett, Hunt and Sam Neale bagged two tries apiece with Ron Lawrence and Shiem Mariner crossing the line, Rob Burn kicking three goals, to give the Tigers their final total.
Molong took advantage of a Canowindra knock-on to put their first points on the board early in the second half, and scored a second late in the match, but for the most part the Tigers were putting on points in some exciting moments.
Shiem Mariner seized the ball from a lucky bounce and beat the Molong defence to the line to make it 18-4, and the Tigers immediately put the pressure back on Molong.
A beautiful move from Logan Harris at dummy half brought Ronny Lawrence in to score to make it 24-4 with 17 minutes of play remaining.
Zac Hunt was next to beat the defenders and put the ball over the line, Sam Neale caught the ball from kick after the last tackle and turned the opportunity into points; then backed up to pounce on the ball as it bounced over the line.
The conversion by Rob Burn gave Canowindra a 36-4 lead and they weren’t done, Hunt again chasing down a ball to cross the line in the corner.
Molong’s late try closed the gap to 10-42 when the final whistle blew and the Tigers really can share the credit for their success in the game.
Luke Watt had a strong game, playing two or three different positions through the course of the match, Lewis Dwyer was another who stood out on field and Ron Lawrence up front.
This weekend, the Tigers are back on their home ground in what promises to be a big weekend of footy for Canowindra.
