Canowindra Tigers have strong win

The Canowindra Tigers travelled to take on Orange United Warriors, with the first grade squad having a solid 44 - 30 win over Orange,

Canowindra had a solid start to their match with some good runs in attack to score in the fifth minute with John Grant heading over the line near the post.

The Tigers had an early lead of 6 nil by the seventh minute.

Following a scrum the Warriors sent the ball wide and were able to try to bring the sore to 6-4 by the tenth minute.

The Tigers had a sold run with some great passes to score another try after the Warriors had a mistake in a scrum.

After another sold run, the Tigers were able to bring the score up to 18-4 with 18 minutes gone.

With some soft defence out wide the Warriors were able to bring the score up to 18-10 a quarter of the way through the match.

Canowindra answered with another converted try in the 25th minute to 24-10.

The Tigers had some big runs through the middle before sending the ball out wide for Andrew to Bennett to score a try.

This brought the score up to 28-10 with eight minutes left in the half.

The Tigers kicked a penalty goal just before the half time siren to go into the break 30-10.

Coming back into the second half, Canowindra slipped bast Orange United's defence to sore just inside the corner post.

Orange United were able to respond with a try, working the ball out wide following a penalty with 29 minutes remaining in the match.

Orange backed this up with a second try following another penalty, again going out wide to bring the score to 34-20 with 23 minutes left in the match.

Canowindra were able to put more points on the board, with Zac Hunt scoring his third try, which was converted, bringing the score to 40-20 with 20 minutes left on the clock.

Canowindra put their final points on the board with 17 minutes left on the match bringing their score to 44.

Orange United were able to close the gap, with a big run from within their own half to score in the corner, bringing the score to 44-24 with just over seven minutes left on the clock.

Canowindra put up a strong defence which was tested by the Warriors in the final minutes of the game.

The Warriors were able to bring their score up to 44-30 by the final whistle.

Players player for Canowindra Tigers was Zac Hunt and Lewis Dwyer. With 3 points to Shy Mariner, 2 points to Lewis Dwyer and 1 point to Bailey Kennedy.

The Women's match saw Orange United defeat Canowindra 24-10.

In the Under 18's match, Orange United proved to be stronger on the day, winning 32-10.
