Both bowling clubs combined to hold a very successful and enjoyable Pink Sports Day for Breast Cancer, a very worthy cause which has touched many of our lives.
50 bowlers and non-bowlers took to the greens resplendent in pink for a fun day which raised more than $2,000 for breast cancer.
Winners of the day were J Pickard, S Morgan and C McCarthy.
The team of J Davis and L Burns managed two draws from two games, which was no mean feat.
Spider winners were S Morgan and R Fisher.
A special encouragement award went to a team of non bowlers from G&B Auto Services, a great effort from the girls.
As well as Pink Day, the bowling fraternity of Cowra Bowling and Recreation Club have contributed generously to many charities during the bowling year.
These include a major charity day in conjunction with Men of League for Motor Neurone which raised $4,655 and was matched by the Club Ltd.
$2,500 twice a year from Business House Bowls goes to local charities and organisations - the recipients this year being Stingrays Swimming Club and Cowra Lions Club.
$500 to Legacy annually, $1,000 to Ronald McDonald House, a service used by many local families, $800 Riding for the Disabled and $700 for Cowra Cancer Action Group.
Very worthy causes bowlers have generously helped during the year.
We will be back on January 11 to start a new year.
Have a wonderful and happy holiday season and we'll see you all back on the greens in the new year.
