The weather was gloomy but once we were inside the Services Club, the atmosphere was alive with our members being able to meet up with each other once again.
To hear the chatter and laughter over coffee was a pleasure to the ear.
Our very welcome guest speaker, Glen Toohey, who we were expecting at our August meeting, had to exit Cowra to return to Canberra before lockdown happened.
He was worth waiting for.
Glen travelled to Sweden in 2017 to gain a university degree at Uppsala universitet, the second oldest in Europe.
We were given a brief introduction to the country and the language.
The Swedish language is very similar to the English, although they have five official languages. The population is 10,379,295, with 975,551 in the capital, Stockholm.
While Glen was overseas, he made many friends and continues to keep in contact with them, returning to visit from time to time when he is able.
Following in his mother Della's footsteps, Glen taught swimming whilst he was there.

We were treated to a wonderful powerpoint presentation into the beautiful country of Sweden.
Margie Ryan introduced Glen while Jan Neilson gave a vote of thanks and presented Glen with a very nice gift.
Our next meeting will be our Christmas breakup on Friday, December 10 from 10am at the Cowra Services Club.
Unfortunately our usual Christmas luncheon cannot be held due to our difficult year.
We will only be having morning tea, along with an interesting guest speaker.
Bring along some old, unusual or interesting jewellery to display.
There will be a lucky door prize on entry.
As our Probus year is coming to a close, we are now looking at having some new committee members to join in the planning of our meetings and, hopefully in the near future, bus trips.
It is always nice to welcome new members to join our happy group with new ideas to start off a new year, so please think about it, it is fun.
Our club will return in February 2022, COVID free hopefully.
Our committee would like to wish our members a safe, happy and healthy Christmas until we meet in the again in the New Year.
