Two familiar faces to Cowra Health Service have been recognised for their efforts at the recent Western NSW Local Health District Excellence in Allied Heath awards.

Danielle Allen took home the Allied Health Researcher/Educator of the Year award while Beth Schofield received the Aboriginal Allied Health Professional of the Year Award.
Ms Allen has completed a wide range of education in fine arts, psychology, secondary teaching and social work, and has spent over 20 years working as a social worker in rural and metropolitan health services in NSW, including Cowra.
She has become a specialist in the area of violence, abuse and neglect, primarily domestic and family violence.
Due to Ms Allen's expert professional knowledge and education commitment across multiple agencies such as Aboriginal medical services, high schools, correction services, and Central West Police Commands, she was recently invited to be involved with the NSW Women's Domestic Violence Court Advocacy Service (WDVCAS) for a podcast series on domestic and family Violence.
In October 2020, she was awarded one of the 112 Churchill Fellowships available across Australia.
Ms Schofield's accolade, the Aboriginal Allied Health Professional of the Year, demonstrates exceptional commitment, professional and compassionate care to all of their patients, families and community.
They are committed to improving and advocating for the culturally appropriate healthcare of Aboriginal peoples and community, as well as growth and development of the broader Aboriginal workforce.
Ms Schofield has been able to take on a number of roles within the Local Health District over this time, initially commencing as a physiotherapist at Lachlan Health Service, senior physiotherapist, Physiotherapy Manager for Cowra/Grenfell Physiotherapy Department, and now working within a project role as a clinical education partner for the Physiotherapy Clinical School pilot.
