The competition will take place on Saturday, November 6, with entries closing on November 4.
Chief Steward, Emma Boland, said it was crucial this year's competition goes ahead following the cancellation of Showgirl last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
"It is exciting to be able to keep some show traditions going for 2021, even though we can't hold an actual show," Ms Boland said.
"The showgirl competition has been a part of the Cowra Show since 1963, and it would be devastating to have to cancel it for the second year in a row.
"I am not sure if there has been a Cowra showgirl competition cancelled before, so it was important to run this year's competition."
The interview section of the competition will be held on the morning of November 6 at the Cowra Showground Pavillion followed by a lunch with the three judges, the current Showgirl and show VIPs.
"Normally, we would hold a cocktail party during the evening, for the entrants to network, and have the opportunity to public speak, as well as announce the winner at the end of the night," Ms Boland said.
"Due to COVID restrictions, we cannot hold a cocktail party this year, so entrants will have the opportunity to speak in front of the lunch guests, and then the judges will make their decision, and announce our 2021 Cowra Showgirl.
"The winner of our showgirl competition will then go on to attend a development weekend with other society's showgirls, and attend Zone showgirl finals in March 2022."
Ms Boland said the competition showcases 'the diversity and strengths of Cowra's young ladies' and encouraged women across the district to apply.
"The Cowra Showgirl competition is judged over a range of different criteria, throughout the day. Firstly, the interviews are focused on what you have already answered in your entry form, with a few questions based on recent community, regional, political and agricultural events or projects," she said.
"It is important to remember that this interview isn't a test or designed to stress you out, it is purely a way to converse and discuss a number of different topics with you, and there are absolutely no wrong answers.
"The judges will then observe your interactions with other people during lunch, and the public speaking component is nothing to fear - it will be a generalised question you receive prior to the judging day, and will be open to your interpretation.
"Our past showgirls have come from many different fields, and all finish the competition with the same message - how great an experience it was!"
Entrants can apply by filling out the Showgirl entry form on the Cowra Show Society website at www.cowrashow.com or by contacting the Secretary's office on 6342 1977 or via email to secretary@cowrashow.com
