There was a sense of normality at Dawson Park in Dubbo on Saturday when heats of the Lesley Ann Leonard Memorial Series were contested.
The meeting was the first with crowds back at the track and those who were in attendance witnessed another masterclass from leading Cowra trainers Paul and Pamela Braddon.
Paul trained the winner in each of the first three heats of the prestigious series while Pamela also finished the meeting with a treble in another memorable night for the Braddon team.
"Paul and Pam do a great job with their dogs," Dubbo Greyhound Racing Club president Shayne Stiff said.
Paul was the star of the show during the Lesley Ann Leonard heats, scoring three successive wins with half siblings Swift Justice and Shelly Swift and then Unlock The Fury.
Woodstock's Darren Wort trains Rare Talent which won the fourth heat while the Amanda Ginn-trained Never But Always was named winner of the fifth heat after it was abandoned due to a lure malfunction.
Shelly Swift was the fastest qualifier and the only runner to break 23 seconds during the 400m heats.
She won in 22.85 seconds while the next fastest was Rare Talent's 23.02.
Rare Talent's heat was a lightning-quick thriller with little to separate the winner from second-placed Daisy's Girl (23.04) and Riley's Fusion (23.06).
"It was a good night's racing," Stiff said, the return of crowds coinciding with one of the more special series on the Dubbo racing calendar.
"It was good fortune. To have people there on Saturday night, instead of it being a ghost town, was great.
"It was very, very good and hopefully it keeps improving. It was encouraging and the turnover for the meeting was good and having the owners there to see their dogs win was really good."
The connections of the Braddons were cheering the most as Pam scored victories with Lightning Blazer, Blazing Lisa, and Benny Bow.
Continuing the winning run the Braddon kennel produced a winning double at Bathurst on Monday with Lonie Swift recording its maiden win and Blazing Lisa making it win two in the space of three days saluting in a very fast 25.76.
Darren Wort was also in the winner's circle with Set To Rule leading through-out to score in 26.45.
The success of the night continued a positive time for the Dubbo club, with major upgrades to the track and facilities currently being completed.
