And those who tuned in to see Rare Talent's first run at Bathurst's Kennerson Park on Monday may have got to see a future star in the making.
Darren Wort's Rare Talent ($2 favourite) did her best to live up to her name when she took out the Welcome GBOTA Maiden (307 metres) in a very respectable time of 17.66 seconds.
Rare Talent had to do some work from the widest draw but once she found the front she looked a million dollars, holding off a strong challenge from fellow debut runner Aqua Jaguar ($2.50, Tia Robertson) by 2.5 lengths.
"That was a very exciting run," Wort said.
"She's been trialling well over the last six weeks so it would just be a case of finding the right box and getting a bit of luck early.
"She showed some good times during her trials but it's a bit different when you put the bib on and get them into a field. But that was all good."

Rare Talent's dam Von Magic won 14 races and given the way that Wort's runner ran on Monday she could have a similar level of success ahead of her.
Mudlark Goddess was brilliant away out of box three and quickly gained more than a length on the chasing duo of Rare Talent and Aqua Jaguar.
That lead seemed to disappear as quick as it came about when Rare Talent flew by the outside and gained a three length break halfway through the turn.
Aqua Jaguar worked past the inside of Mudlark Goddess to maintain the pursuit of Rare Talent.
However, he had far too much to do and had to be content with the runner-up spot - but still impressed in a great debut run of his own.
