The Cowra local government area (LGA) will go into a snap, seven-day lockdown from 5pm Monday after a nine-year-old boy tested positive to COVID-19 on the weekend.

The announcement was made by Dr Kerry Chant at the state government's 11am press conference.
Dr Chant said people who have been in Cowra since September 13 must adhere by stay-at-home orders.
"Cowra is going into a lockdown effective from 5pm," Dr Chant said.
"Anyone who was in Cowra from the 13th of September, regardless of where they are, must adhere to the stay-at-home requirements."
Dr Chant said the source of the virus was still unknown.
"There was a nine-year-old boy who attended school in Cowra and there were a number of associated community exposures," she said.
"The source, at the moment, is under investigation and I would call on the Cowra community, which I know they will respond to increased testing and it is pleasing to see that the Cowra population has a high vaccination coverage but again call out for Cowra community to go forth and get vaccinated."
Under the stay-at-home orders you cannot leave your home unless you have a reasonable excuse, including:
- to obtain food or other goods and services locally
- leave home to go to work if you cannot reasonably work from home and the business is allowed to be open
- leave home for education if it is not possible to do it at home
- attend an interview or an assessment for work which cannot take place at your home
- exercise and take outdoor recreation within your local government area or, if you need to cross into another local government area, stay within 5km of your home
- go out for medical or caring reasons, including obtaining a COVID-19 vaccination.
- transport a member of your household who is authorised to leave because they have a reasonable excuse (for example, taking a child to school).
If you are fully vaccinated, you can attend an outdoor gathering in a public place of up to five people for exercise or outdoor recreation so long as all of those at the gathering aged 16 years or over are fully vaccinated.
If you are not fully vaccinated:
- You can attend an outdoor gathering in a public space with one other person that you do not live with, or your nominated visitor ("singles bubble") for exercise or outdoor recreation.
- If you live with more than two other people, you can all go out together for exercise or outdoor recreation.
