The Cowra Arthritis Support Group held their most recent meeting on August 3, with guest speaker Trish Bowler.

Ms Bowler spoke to the group about yoga and the impact it can have on the body.

"Yoga involves three areas, breathing, relaxation and exercises, stretching and strengthening, so it's important to get the balance right in arthritis," she said.

"The group was very receptive and aware that it's important to not just use medication for treatment, and it's important for the social aspect to get involved with things like yoga, meeting different people in the community.

"It is something that can help throughout life, whatever the medical condition of people they can do some form of yoga."

Group organiser, Christine Murphy, said it was fantastic to have the group back together again.

"The group aims to provide members with support, information and companionship as well as raise money for Arthritis NSW," she said.

"It's fantastic for people to come along to learn more about self-managing their condition, listen to guest speakers and meet new friends."

Mrs Murphy said the group's next meeting will be on September 7, 12pm for lunch, 1pm meeting.

She said the group is hoping to have an aromatherapist attend the meeting to speak.
