While the Cowra township may have missed out on a dusting, areas of the shire were blanketed in white snow on Wednesday.

Winter well and truly arrived in the east of the shire, with snow reported around Woodstock, Darbys Falls and Wyangala and further afield in Neville, Carcoar and Blayney.
Cowra Council's road crews spotted snow on Quartpot Road and Tea Tree Road, out past Darbys Falls and Wyangala Dam, and warned residents to stay safe when driving around the region.
"Motorists are reminded to take care with snow falling in the Central West and to always drive to the conditions," Cowra Council said.
Looking to the north, Cabonne Council closed access to Mount Canobolas on Tuesday afternoon due to the conditions.
"Following advice from the SES, Council has made the decision to close access gates to Mount Canobolas... as a precaution with the predicted inclement weather," Cabonne Council said on social media.
As of Thursday morning, a number of roads had been closed:
- Amaroo Road (local traffic allowed)
- The Escort Way (between the Northern Distributor in Orange and Peabody Road)
- Pinnacle Road
- Cargo Road (at the Cabonne/Orange council boundary)
- Lake Canobolas Road
- Old Canobolas Road
- Borenore Road
- Canobolas Road
Trees had also fallen on Long Point Road, Mullion Creek and Gazard Lane, Clergate.
"The safety of road users is of the utmost importance to Cabonne Council," Cabonne Council said.
Police are encouraging motorists to be patient in the conditions over the long weekend, with roads across the state expected to be busy with travellers.
Officers will be stationed across NSW for Operation Queen's Birthday 2021 between midnight on Friday and midnight Monday.
Double demerit points will again be in force for speeding, mobile phone, seatbelt and motorcycle/helmet offences.
