The Cowra Cancer Action Group will be holding a major art exhibition during the month of May at the Cowra Japanese Garden which will culminate in an auction night, which will serve as the group's major fundraiser for the year.
The opening of the exhibition is this Sunday, May 2 at 3pm.
Artist Troy Jones has donated two pieces of his work for the exhibition and auction.
Troy, who likes to be occupied, always had a love of making things which was increased further after he attended a pottery TAFE course in Cowra.
It was at TAFE where he learnt some of the finer points of the art under the tutelage of renowned potters Andy Luckett and Catherine Bennett.
It was after attending the course that Troy took up the art as a serious past time.
Andy Luckett recognised Troy had a great talent and nurtured him along the way.
Troy has since developed a great passion for pottery, a craft he has now been practicing and mastering for more than 15 years.
Troy said he just likes building and shaping things as well as mixing the different glazes to come up with different colours for his works.
The two pots Troy has donated to the exhibition and auction could be described as a rustic green in colour, one a deeper bowl shape and the other an open bowl.
The other artists involved in the exhibition and auction are:
- Greg and John Daley
- Tracey Mackie
- Lindy Mac
- Troy Jones
- Inel Date
- Mary Ford
