Local audiences will get to see the Best of Australian Short, FlickerKids and Short Laughs Comedy programs.

Highlights from the Best of Australian Shorts on Friday, April 16 include Roborovski, which won the Yoram Gross Award For Best Australian Animation at Flickerfest 2021 and which sees actors Tilda Cobham-Hervey and Dev Patel step behind the camera in the directors' chairs.

This animated short about an adorable miniature hamster seeking revenge, was penned by acclaimed writer John Collee (Happy Feet).

The directorial debut of actress Phoebe Tonkin, Furlough, a moving 19 minute drama set on the Central Coast of NSW will also be shown.

Both films screen alongside the regional premiere of Dust Cloud from Woodstock filmmaker, writer and farmer Trudi Houston Refshauge about a badly behaved working dog (Jack) who changes his tune when he is given the love and respect he deserves from a prudent country woman played by Sandy Gore (Brides of Christ, Australia).

Trudi is an AFTRS Masters in Arts Screen graduate and in 2019 was awarded the Foxtel Diversity Scholarship.

During her postgraduate studies, Trudi wrote and directed the eight-minute short, Dust Cloud, as part of a proof of concept for her full-length feature film screenplay.

Dust Cloud will also be shown on Saturday, April 17 and Trudi will be present in Canowindra to talk about her film and famous sheep dog Jack.

The Short Laughs Comedy program will run on Friday, April 30.
