It was a beautiful Autumn morning when Elaine Hall drew the single game against Jan Trengove and Heather Edwards.
Elaine produced some really good shots all round particularly around hoops, but unfortunately for her, Jan and Heather had that extra experience that allowed them to peg out, 26-14.
All three players enjoyed every minute of the play which suggests that a lot of thought went into tactical movements.
Elaine's grandson Aiden also arrived to improve his skills and he teamed up with Netta Noack against Gwen Bush and Pam Boler.
Netta and Aiden were playing well from the start and although they had to cope with a serious challenge from Pam and Gwen, they went on to peg out 26-16.
Monday, April 5
Don Capps and Elaine Hall found themselves playing a singles game.
Although Don won the game easily, he spent a lot of time giving Elaine hints and tips about planning her shots and handling her mallet to make the balls work better for her.
Pam Boler and Aaron teamed up to play Heather Edwards and Jenny Walker. Pam and Aaron scored early in the game giving them two hoops to their credit.
With some careful strategies they managed to hold their lead, but it seemed that Heather and Jenny worked just as hard to plan their attack and they eventually caught up and went on to win the game 26-16.
The game was a good contest between four keen-to-win players.
Aiden teamed up with Katrine Capps today to play against Netta Noack.
The former two had no trouble scoring their first few hoops and with some careful planning continued on in a like manner, while Netta's handling of her mallet was proving a problem.
Eventually, the game became quite a contest and when 'time' was called they had scored 15 each. All players seem to walk off the green feeling as if they pulled their weight to the best of their ability.
Wednesday, April 7
Today Elaine Hall partnered Helen Bryant against Pam Boler and Netta Noack.
Some good roquets lead to some really good hoop scoring, lots of laughter and sighs too. An early end to the game found Pam and Netta just ahead with one hoop against Helen and Elaine, 18-17.
Once all balls were on the court, partners Chris Palazzi and Gwen Bush had no trouble working those balls to produce hoops for themselves and had a number of breaks (three or more hoops in a turn) including one of four hoops before they realised that their opponents, Jan Trengove and Jenny Walker, were scoring nearly as well and not many hoops behind.
Suddenly the game was serious, with all players putting in that extra effort, and the early finish found both sides equal. Jan and Jenny made that little extra effort in their last turn and scored the winning hoop, 25-24.
