Inner Wheel began in England in 1924, established in Australia in 1931, and in Cowra in 1959.
Inner Wheel is now one of the largest women's voluntary service organisations in the world.
Membership was originally restricted to the wives of Rotarians, but now membership is open to all women who wish to connect with the needs of their community and enjoy fun and fellowship.
A new member, Fiona Carson, was inducted at the February meeting, held at Cowra Services Club.
When asked why she chose to join the Inner Wheel Club of Cowra, Fiona replied, "I want to meet monthly with all the wonderful, friendly, and caring club members, to share their company, while working together on charitable endeavors".
Fiona moved to the Cowra District eleven years ago and has found it a great place to live.
Fiona loves the country attitude, the genuineness and friendliness of the people, which reminds her of how things were in her local area where she grew up.
A friendship luncheon is planned in April at the home of A50 Council Member Anne Holloway, a past Cowra President and present member of the Cowra club.
Monthly meetings are held on the third Monday of each month at Cowra Services Club, commencing at 11am.
Guest speakers are usually invited and the members have a chance to enjoy coffee or tea before the start of the meeting and/or an unofficial lunch after the meeting.
