Magistrate Kiely has worked almost extensively with the Director of Public of Prosecutions [DPP] as a solicitor for 14 years.
She was the acting solicitor in charge of the Sutherland Office of Legal Aid NSW, carrying a full case load and managing eight staff.
Prior to practising law, she spent seven years working in local court registries. She also has a Masters of Public Administration and a degree in health science.
She was one of eight new magistrates appointed to the bench of the Local Court of NSW in September 2019. The appointments, at the time, boosted the number of female magistrates to a record 65.
Magistrate Kiely took the judicial oath on October 28, 2019, beginning her career in Sydney before relocating to western NSW.
The Cootamundra courts circuit includes Cootamundra, Young, Cowra and West Wyalong.
