The Cowra Blues will be hosting an AFL 9s competition, with the first round to kick off on Thursday, February 4.
Cowra Blues President Chris Day said the club was hoping to attract new players to the sport with a smaller, more social form of the game.
"As a club, we're really trying to get a lot of outside people just to give it a go, if they haven't played AFL before," he said.
"Bit of fun, bit of fitness and hopefully we can get a few to stick around for the season proper."
Day said the club was looking to get a minimum of four teams in the competition.
"Anymore than that is fantastic," he said.
"We're looking at nine on the field, teams of 11 or 12."
The competition is set to run for eight weeks and depending on team numbers, games will kick off at 6pm on Thursdays with more games at 7pm if need be.
Day said it will be a similar setup to local mixed netball and twilight soccer competitions.
"The ground is separated into thirds... you have to have at least female in each third of the ground. All non-contact," he said.
"Bit of pre-season fitness obviously, bit of ball skills but the most important thing is to try and push through with the 9s is just everyone having a bit of fun and getting involved.
"There used to be a lot of people play twilight soccer, we thought there was a bit of a gap there, so just trying to fill a little bit of that."
Registration will be set up online, however the club are asking for expressions of interest at this stage.
Registration will cost $350 per team and those interested are asked to contact the club on Facebook.
