As the Cowra Art Group came to the end of a very unusual year, members attended a very pleasant Christmas party at the Cowra Services Club, and also presented a great array of gifts to the Family Support Group.
Organised by the Craft Group, many members contributed beautiful handmade items and other gifts.
With numbers in our rooms being an important consideration, things have been difficult to manage with some groups dividing, and members meeting either morning or afternoon on their usual day.
However one thing has been constant. Enjoyment of each other's company, trying out new techniques either from experimentation or helping each other with some great results.
The Spinners have had photos and description of their work published in the November issue of the Guild News - Lockdown Show and Tell put out by the NSW Weavers and Spinners Guild.
It may be viewed in the Art Room.
Apart from spinning up fleece and enjoying the different fibres, they have been dyeing and also processing their silkworm cocoons into a workable medium.
There have been plenty of interesting activities in progress, and they are looking forward to restarting in the New Year.
The Monday artists have been productive as usual with the continuing exhibition in the Canowindra Art Gallery and periodic displays in the Visitors Centre.
2021 Lachlan Valley Biennial Art Awards
Meetings have begun regarding the 2021 Lachlan Valley Biennial Art Awards to be staged in conjunction with the Cowra Art Group in the Cowra Regional Art Gallery from May 20 to June 12, 2021. More information will be available in the New Year.
Restarting Dates for 2021
The groups will begin meeting again in the New Year on various dates in January 2021.
The Monday artists begin on January 11, Patchworkers on January 15, Craft on January 19 and Spinners on January 21.
The first general meeting for 2021 will be in February.
