After the mercury topped 41.3 degrees, a cold front brought showers and storms on Tuesday afternoon.
According to the Bureau of Meteorology, 76km/h winds were recorded at Cowra Airport.
The storm did plenty of damage on the region's roads, with trees and branches uprooted and littered across the Mid Western Highway towards Greenethorpe and Grenfell and the Olympic Highway towards Koorawatha.
There were also reports of power outages in areas such as Greenethorpe.
