Building on previous plans and the achievements of the community in the last 20 years, the Cowra Sport and Recreation Plan will guide sustainable investment in facilities, identify priorities and provide a strategic framework for the planning and management of sport and recreation services.
"Cowra has a proud community sporting culture that is underpinned by a dedicated network of volunteer-run community sport and recreation clubs," Cowra Mayor, Councillor Bill West.
"Council recognises the significant physical, mental and social benefits to be gained from staying active, whether that is through organised sport or through more recreational activities, such as walking.
"We're very fortunate here in the Cowra Shire to have such a wide diversity of activities on offer and we remain committed to ensuring we maintain and enhance council facilities and services to continue to support those activities into the future."
Otium Planning Group has been engaged by council to facilitate community engagement and stakeholder consultation to develop the Cowra Sport and Recreation Plan and a series of consultations has been planned to ensure that everyone has a chance to have their say on the new plan.
Residents are encouraged to complete a short online community survey to share their thoughts on the sport and recreation issues that matter most to them.
The survey can be found on Council's website or accessed via: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/CSRSCommunity.
The survey will close Friday, December 4.
