Despite a commanding 146-run victory over fellow Cowra side Valleys in Parkes the weekend before, the Holman Oval pitch was simply too hot for the Raptors to handle with Bowling Club easily accounting their total 6/71 in their Lachlan Premier League match up.

A repeat of last week's performance looked on the cards for the Raptors, with opening batsman Jimmy Kuntze knocking 31 before being run out.

But then came the ducks, with Max Keith, Will Searl, Blake Smith and Brad Parker unable to get on the board.

Scott Knights (13) was the only other Raptors' batsman able to get into double figures, while Benji Glasheen (5), Ben Coultas (2), Luke Nash (3) and Adam Parker (3) all having small spells with the bat.

Bowling Club captain Chris Day said a slow start turned into some of the best bowling of the season.

"We didn't start to well with the ball but the boys through the middle Tom Thaux and Chris Howarth both took three for and I think they had the two best spells of the year so it was good to roll them for 70," he said.

"I said during the week I wasn't quite sure what they were going to bring over. We obviously have some quality players but I think the way we bowled and fielded put the clamps on them.

"Once you're chasing 70 it's not often you don't chase it down."

A change in the regular batting lineup was seen in reply, with top scorer Mikey McNamara (14) joined by Jackson McLeish (10) and Tom Thaux (9) to open Bowling Club's account.

While there were no stand out individual efforts with the bat, there didn't need to be - single digit efforts were enough to secure the win, with Mick Curtale (13) and Ethan Gray (1) the last ones standing on the pitch.

"We're always pretty comfortable chasing that so we gave a couple of the kids a go at the top," Day said.

"Jackson McLeish opened, he looked pretty good until he got out unfortunately.

"Then we lost a few wickets towards the end but that happens with these small chases sometimes."

Both sides will now enjoy a weekend off with a general bye next round.

"We'll get into training and work on a few things, more so with the bat and keep working on what we are doing with the ball and go from there," Day said.
