You may have spotted local teacher Jayne Sharkey running around town lately, sporting some unusual facial features.

Jayne is planning to run 200km during the month of November with a different style of moustache drawn on her face each day.

She said local personalities and historical figures such as Salvador Dali and David Boon have inspired her 'staches.

"I wanted to add a bit of fun to my fundraising efforts and allow people to get involved through me," she said.

"I made a pledge to draw on a Mo before each run and anyone that had donated $50 or more could choose the MOspiration. Thus was born the 'stache for cash' idea.

"I had originally planned out a few Mo's ahead of time as I wasn't sure what the response would be. People are very creative! I've had to wear some very dirty looking caterpillars on my lip."

Jayne says her goal is to raise $1,411 for the 1,411 men lost prematurely between October to December but more importantly, hopes her efforts get people talking about men's health.

"Our fathers, partners, brothers and friends are facing a health crisis. Men are dying too young," she said.

"I am so incredibly thankful to those that have shared my posts or donated funds... What is more exciting though, is the conversation that Movember sparks.

"My aim is that people will pass me in the street, see a girl with a funny looking Mo and hopefully raise awareness that we and in particular men are going through a mental health crisis.

"We need to start normalising conversation that address our mental health. A bit like running, it's hard at first but with training we become stronger."

While Jayne is flaunting a moustache, some blokes around Cowra are gearing up to lose their beards.

The team at Brother Fox are hosting "Cowra's great Mo-ment", a free fundraiser for Movember on November 30 at the Cowra Showground Pavilion.

In the lead up to the event, barber Marc Grant decided it was time for the facial hair to go.

"This year I thought I might give it a crack myself and shave my beard off," he said.

"Everyone knows how Marc thinks about his beard and then people were like, "I'd pay money to shave it off" and that's where we got the idea from," Marc's wife Sam said.

The beards of Trevor Ball, Matt Bohman, Tony McFarland and Matt Dillon have also been up for auction and will be shaved on the night.

The team, along with Cowra High School, are also hosting a "Movember competition" with men in the community encouraged to grow moustaches for the event.

The competition is $10 entry, with all profits going to the Movember Foundation, and participants must attend "Cowra's Great Mo-ment" on November 30.

There will be three categories: Most Stylish, Most Money Raised and the Most Seedy Moustache, with free 'stache maintenance for the month of November at Brother Fox for those who enter.

The evening will also feature live music, food, raffles and auctions.

Marc said businesses and organisations, such as Kendal Street Cafe, Cowra Carpet Cleaning and the Cowra Show Society have gotten behind the initiative.

"It's just a big night for everyone to come, have a feed, we have a mental health speaker coming to tell us about what services Cowra provide for that type of thing," he said.
