The reopening weekend of Saturday, October 24 and Sunday, October 25, will include two special concerts - Where Song Began and Wandering Hearts.
Inspired by leading ornithologist Tim Low's award-winning book, Where Song Began is a musical celebration of Australia's birds and how they shaped the world.
This musical and visual performance interweaves compositions old and new with stunning projections and an immersive natural soundscape.
Just in time for Bird Week, Where Song Began is a cross-art form performance piece for all ages featuring live music performance of repertoire spanning 300 years, from J.S. Bach to Ross Edwards, evocative visual projections encompassing flight, landscape and courtship, poetry and prose telling the story of songbird evolution.
The show is performed by Simone Slattery on violin and Anthony Albrecht on cello.
Acclaimed soprano Eleanor Lyons and her conductor/pianist husband Vladimir Fanshil are usually based in Vienna and travel around the world to perform.
However, due to the pandemic they are happily stranded in Australia performing their show Wandering Hearts.
The program includes favourite opera arias, undiscovered songs by Gliere, Grieg's Six Songs and the premiere of a new work composed especially for them Wandering Hearts by Australian contemporary composer Elena Kats-Chernin.
"It is very exciting to finally be able to reopen the doors and welcome the community back to the Civic Centre," Manager Jonathan Llewellyn said.
"These two shows are just a taste of what's to come in the future with our new operation model and regular programming."
COVID Safe procedures are in place including allocated seating.
Capacity for both concerts is limited so bookings are essential.
