Luis Suarez has scored an early goal to help his new side Atletico Madrid win 2-0 at Celta Vigo and end the team's scoring drought in La Liga.
Suarez had debuted for Diego Simeone's team by netting twice in a 6-1 rout of Granada after joining Atletico from Barcelona but since then the Uruguay striker and his teammates had been restrained in 0-0 stalemates against Huesca and Villarreal.
Yet Suarez got back on the board when he scored from a pass from Manuel Sanchez in the sixth minute at Celta's Balaidos Stadium, which was devoid of fans like all top-flight matches in Spain due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Yannick Carrasco added a second goal in stoppage time when he headed in a rebound after fellow substitute Joao Felix hit the crossbar with a curling strike.
Sevilla will visit Chelsea in the Champions League on Tuesday having seen their unbeaten streak in the league ended by Granada, who defeated them 1-0 with a Yangel Herrera header with eight minutes left. It was Sevilla's first loss in the league since February.
In Germany's Bundesliga, Thomas Muller and Robert Lewandowski both bagged braces as champions Bayern Munich outclassed promoted Arminia Bielefeld 4-1.
Muller bundled home from close-range early on before Lewandowski struck twice by half-time to go top of the scoring chart on seven goals. The prolific Pole showed he could also create by setting up Muller after the break for the fourth.
Bielefeld were rewarded for their effort when Ritsu Doan grabbed a consolation but Bayern easily saw out the win despite Corentin Tolisso's late red card.
Bayern are second on nine points behind leaders RB Leipzig on 10.
Earlier, substitutes Marco Reus and Erling Haaland came on to end Borussia Dortmund's barren run against Hoffenheim with a 1-0 victory.
Dortmund hadn't won any of the last five meetings between the sides, but Haaland ran on to a ball headed from midfield and kept his cool in front of Hoffenheim's goalkeeper before unselfishly crossing to give Reus a tap-in in the 76th minute.
Freiburg and Werder Bremen drew 1-1, Hertha Berlin lost 2-0 at home to promoted Stuttgart, Bayer Leverkusen won at Mainz 1-0, and Yussuf Poulsen scored a contender for goal of the season to help Leipzig end Augsburg's perfect start with a 2-0 win.
