CLOUDIN UP took out the Shirley Lesslie Appreciation Pace ahead of the fast finishing CARRAMAR TIMES UP, who did everything right but just could not haul in the ultra-impressive Townsend runner.
Despite being three-wide in the early stages, concession driver Justin Reynolds pushed CLOUDIN UP to the front, and from there the gelding could not be caught; with a final margin of 1.8 metres.
Since transferring to the Townsend stable from the Queensland-based Danny Gatt-Bouquet 10 starts ago, CLOUDIN UP has now snagged four wins and a second at the Parkes and Dubbo tracks.
Parkes' Brett and Malcolm Hutchings provide placegetters in the first race of the day, the TAB Odds and Evens Pace; with COUNTRY GRAMMAR NZ and PRETTYBOYTOM finishing second and third respectively.
The feature races for the meeting were the heats of the NSW Breeders Challenge, with races for the two-year-old fillies and two-year-old colts and geldings.
The heats all have prize money of $10k, with Regional Series Final runners sharing in $30k before the big dance at Menangle - the Major Series Final sees a purse of $125k.
There was an incredible finish in the Soho Valencia 2YO Fillies Heat, with Bathurst's Bernie Hewitt training both winners - yes you heard that right; he trained two winners in the one feature race!
Neck and neck going into the straight, the short-priced $1.40 favourite IAMAJOYRIDE and BETA JEWEL could not be separated at the post with the judge declaring a dead heat.
In the Three Over Three 2YO Colts and Geldings Heat, talented gelding HE AINT FAKIN put on a clinic as he started his run on the back before pulling away powerfully in the straight to secure his third win in a row.
Cowra's only runner, the Monique Parsons trained Hinchinbrook, driven by Shannon Rye, finished unplaced in the Dubbo Stallion Tender Opens Today pace.
