The Blues were hosted by the Bathurst Giants women's side at George Park who took the win 65-14.
Day said the scoreline didn't reflect the quality of the match.
"Our ball movement was as good as I've ever seen it and considering the conditions I was really pleased with that," he said.
"The Giants kicked a few goals late which blew the scoreline out a little bit more than what it was.
"But it was a really good contest and it felt like our girls played really well.
"We haven't scored a lot against the Giants over the years so it was good to get those goals and we'll keep working on that."
He said the side's new players were picking the game up well.
"I'm really happy with the way they are progressing, that was one of our better games on the weekend," he said.
"The new girls have played three games now and you can see the natural development from playing the game and they are going really well."
He said the boost in numbers from the new players was great for the side.
"We are really pleased with the numbers a few games last year we only had 10 or 12 players which makes it a bit hard," he said.
"So having 16 on the field each week really helps."
So far the the Blues men's and women's sides have joined each other on the road but that will change this week, with the men heading to Parkes while the women take on Orange.
Day said the side wasn't worried about the split.
"We're split up for the next two weeks but we have some plans in place around that," he said.
"Hopefully the girls can play similar to the way we played on Saturday and give Orange a red hot crack.
"We always defend really well, it's just about keeping that ball movement going forward and getting on the scoreboard."
