Central Tablelands weather: Rain, snow predicted in the region

RAIN has already started falling in the Central West on Friday morning with a wet three days predicted and the chance of snow.

Forecasting models show good rainfall is on the way with up to 45 millimetres possible in one town from Friday to Sunday.

By 7.30am on Friday, rain has already started falling with 9.8mm recorded in Forbes, 8.8mm in Parkes and 7.6mm in Cowra.

In Orange 3.8mm has been recorded so far on Friday morning, with 3.6mm in Dubbo, 0.8mm in Bathurst, 0.6mm in Mudgee and 0.2mm in Lithgow.

The rain band is predicted to move further east during the day with the chance of afternoon storms.

Three-day predictions for Friday to Sunday show up to 45mm of rain is possible in Lithgow, with 35mm possible in Cowra and Young.

Around 30mm could fall in Dubbo, Forbes, Mudgee, Orange and Wellington, up 25mm in Bathurst and around 20mm in Parkes.

On Sunday, there is a chance of snow in around Jenolan Caves and in high areas between Bathurst and Lithgow.

Meanwhile, a sheep graziers warning is in place for the region on Friday due to predicted cold temperatures, rain and vigorous easterly winds.
