SCORES of customers experienced a very cold night following a power outage in areas west of Cowra on Monday evening.

The blackout commenced at 7.50pm and by 8am on Tuesday 72 properties were still in the dark.
Essential Energy's website says the cause of the outage is unknown and crews are investigating.

Bureau of Meteorology data shows it was chilly overnight in Cowra with a low of 3.9 degrees, while the 'feels like' temperature fell as low as 1.8 degrees.
The median minimum for July in Cowra is 2.1 degrees.
On Tuesday the mercury is predicted to reach a sunny top of 16 degrees.
Essential Energy's website provides information on planned and unplanned outages, with customers urged to contact 13 20 80 if they have an enquiry.
