The Drought Communities Programme (DPC) Extension funding will go towards the development, upgrade and maintenance of nine projects across Cabonne communities to boost community development, economic stimulus and jobs after the prolonged drought.
Calare MP and Minister for Decentralisation, Andrew Gee welcomed funding for the Cabonne area.
"Cabonne Shire has been on the frontline of this devastating drought, and while we've had some welcome rain, we're not out of the woods yet," said Mr Gee.
"The Drought Communities Programme has already delivered $1 million in local infrastructure and this further million dollar round will get even more vital local projects cracking.
"One of the great things about the programme is that it not only boosts community morale, but also local economies by employing local builders and tradies to do the work and supply the materials.
"The latest round of projects to be funded are going to be warmly welcomed by the communities of Cabonne.
"Cabonne Council has done an outstanding job in working with local community groups and the Federal Government to identify excellent projects that deliver maximum value for the towns and villages of the shire," said Mr Gee.
Mayor of Cabonne Shire, Cr Kevin Beatty thanked the Federal Government for making the drought funding available.
"This will assist our Local Government Area as a whole, stimulating business and employment, particularly for those who have suffered prolonged downturn due to drought," Cr Beatty said.
"Not only will this funding boost local employment and purchases, but it will give us new infrastructure and improvements to community facilities that will provide ongoing benefits for years to come."
The $1 million in funding will be allocated across the following nine projects:
- Two more Central Tablelands/Cabonne water filling stations at Cargo & Cudal
- Solar power & battery system for the sustainability of the Canowindra Golf Club

In November 2019 the Federal Government boosted the Drought Communities Program by $128 million to assist drought-affected communities through the tough times.
In total, $301 million has been committed to the program over four years to deliver an immediate economic stimulus in communities facing hardship, and to support community development, local employment and to keep money flowing through local businesses.
