It might be preseason but footy is simply a secondary thought, with the Cowra Tens a perfect chance to reconnect with old friends.

That's why The Chumdogs and The Riders of Rohan are relishing putting their bands back together to remember their times at Kinross Wolarooi.

In their second year at the Tens, The Chumdogs Team Manager Fraser Robertson says the tournament is the perfect venue to catch up and play footy at the same time.

"It was really fun last year, no one takes it too seriously because everyone embraces the laid-back nature of the event," he said.

"And for us, in it was our last chance before we all headed off in different direction to work and university, so wanted to continue catching up."

With the tournament bringing together players and teams from right across the region, Robertson said he was looking forward to playing and chatting with players before the season got serious

"It's probably the bit I'm most looking forward to, our team just like so many others features players from everywhere," he said.

"So, you get an opportunity to play with and against your team-mates and blokes you'll face during the season, it will be fun playing a bit of footy before the season gets serious."

That chance to bring everyone together, is also what keeps Bill Cummins and his side The Riders of Rohan coming back every year.

Entering for a sixth time, Cummins who started The Riders alongside his friends Jason Day and Ben Watt, said all their friends love the opportunity to share a day of laughs at the footy.

"We are predominantly made up of ex Kinross boarding students, that grew a real close connection, and we love to keep that bond tight and the Tens is a perfect way to do that," he said.

"It's just a great excuse for us as mates to get everyone back home, especially those boys who spend a lot of time in the city and enjoy having them back in Cowra."

He liked the side's chances to take out the tournament with defending premiers Greylands not returning but added anything that happens on the footy field will just be bonus.

"You bet we want to win, we have a few notable additions that will help fire up the team and keep our eyes on the prize," he said.

"But winning will be a bonus, even if we miss the finals it's ok, because we get to spend a great weekend together chatting with mates and watching some pretty good rugby, we can' t wait."

Spectators at the Cowra Tens on Saturday, March 7 will be able to see these sides in action from around 12pm. Entry fee is $5 and full canteen and bar facilities available.
