The 67th Annual Cowra Eisteddfod will be held from May 12 to June 4. Entries will close March 2.
All the usual sections will be available in the four disciplines - Vocal, Instrumental, Dance, and Speech & Drama, catering for both amateurs and semi professional in all ages, catering for solo items and small and large groups.
Several new sections have been introduced this year.
There is a Local Musical Theatre section for competitors who live or are taught in a 110 km radius.
A special trophy has been introduced for The Most Successful School in all school sections, covering Vocal and Verse Choirs, School Bands/Orchestras, Short Skits and School Dance Sections.
This trophy is being sponsored by Cowra Bus Service.
New dance sections to be introduced this year will include Hip Hop and Musical Theatre for groups and solos.
All adjudicators have been engaged. It has been decided that because dancing has been extended to 10 days, that two adjudicators will share the load this year. Scholarships will again be offered to assist promising young performers to continue their studies.
These include include the Farleigh Jnr. Vocal Scholarship for 13 to 18 year olds - valued at $750 and Farleigh Snr Vocal Scholarship for 19 to 27 year olds valued at $4,000.
The Arts Council Speech & Drama Scholarship - Fitzroy St. Physiotherapy Ballet Scholarship, the Dance Scholarship, and the Farleigh Instrumental/Piano Scholarship - all available for students 12 yrs andover - are valued at $2,000 each.
The Bruce & Margaret Weir Trust Local Performing Arts Scholarship -valued at $3,000 - will again be offered to students aged 13 to 20 years who are taught in or residents of the Cowra Shire.
The Cowra Eisteddfod Committee is delighted with the support of all the scholarship sponsors again this year.
