Fowler, who was raised in St Helens before making the move to Hobart, was awarded a wildcard to the annual Southern professional women's event, but the world No.89 was too strong for the 19-year-old local.

Taking on the 25-year-old, who made the quarter-finals of the Jiangxi Open last year, Fowler described the match and the opportunity it presented as a dream come true, taking to social media to thank those involved.

"I'm so blessed to have been given the opportunity to play at this world-class event," she said.

"It has always been my dream to play at the Hobart International and to have fulfilled that has been truly amazing.

"I'm so grateful for the amount of support I received, so a huge thank you to everyone that came along and watched - it means so much."

Spending most of her 2019 travelling around the globe playing in ITF events, the former Elizabeth College student has achieved success in qualifying for tournaments in Hua Hin and Heraklion.

Kozlova gained acceptance into the main draw with a comfortable win over Italian Camila Giorgi on Sunday.

The main draw, featuring the likes of Elise Mertens, two-time grand slam champion Garbine Muguruza and Australians Sam Stosur, Astra Sharma and Lizette Cabrera, gets underway on Monday with the final to be played on Saturday before the Australian Open.
