Two Cowra High School students have been named as recipients of the prestigious Victor Chang School Science Award.

Year 11 students Sean Smith and Elliot Roberts received awards for their efforts in Chemistry and Physics and Biology and Chemistry respectively.
Sean attended the awards ceremony in Dubbo last week and said he was proud to represent the Central West.
"It was good to see the other people there that won awards... I think there were a few from Bathurst, some from Condo, one from Forbes," he said.
"It felt pretty good to be a winner from the Central West because there was about 10 of us all up."
He said the award also showcased the abilities and talents of students who attend public schools.
"It felt good because a lot of the people were from public schools so I think it shows you don't get a whole lot of benefits in your education by going to private school," he said.
Both students believe their skills in science will benefit them in the future.
While focusing on science at the moment they say they may not necessarily seek employment or future study in the field.
Sean said he's planning on studying surveying in Newcastle, while Elliot is looking at a veterinary course.
"I think I want do a career in science, I am aiming, at the moment, at veterinary science but I'm also interested in other fields like biology, ecology or zoology," Elliot said.
"I might not do science but that's where I am heading at the moment."
