Ms Foster, who works at the Cowra branch of the Department of Communities and Justice, received the award at the Rotary Club's meeting last Thursday night.

She was nominated by her colleague Amber Hunter and her manager Belinda McGrath.

Ms McGrath said Ms Foster was the friendly face who greeted clients and case workers.

"The reason Amber and I nominated Donna was she is a great frontline person, she does face adversity with some of our clients that come in," she said.

"Nothing fazes Donna, anything you want, she'll do it and that's for clients and for staff and that also goes for me.

"I remember when Donna started and she was extremely nervous and she was quickly thrown into the firepit and she's come out on the other side, she's doing a fantastic job."

Ms Foster says it is an honour to be nominated.

"I want to thank Rotary for giving me this honour, it was very unexpected and really appreciated," she said.

"I want to thank Amber for nominating me and also Belinda for being an excellent boss as well."

Rotarian Ian Docker, who looks after the program, said it the award was brought back after a number of years in conjunction with the Cowra Business Chamber.

"Rotary used to do this award many years ago, last year President Bill [Murphy] brought it back into life," he said.

"In these economic times with drought, we are very lucky with our town because we've got some great people involved and people nominating people, it's been fantastic."

The first winner of the Pride of Workmanship was Michelle Rowe from Benedict Quartz.
