Jaimin Simpson of Darling Street failed to appear before the court charged with being a never licenced person driving on the road and being in custody of a knife in a public place in two separate incidents.
According to police facts, around 1.45am on August 20, police were travelling along Redfern Street when they stopped Simpson for a random breath test.
The test returned a negative reading and Simpson told police he had left his licence at home in Bathurst.
Police checks revealed Simpson had never held a licence.
A search of the vehicle found two knives. Simpson claimed they weren't his. Simpson gave a third knife to police. He claimed the knife was for personal protection.
Around 12.20am on August 28 police stopped a vehicle on Brisbane Street after noticing its headlights weren't on.
While police spoke to the driver they observed the passenger, Simpson, trying to avoid them and hiding a bag between the passenger seat and the door. Suspecting he was in custody of a knife police searched the bag and located a wooden handled knife he claimed was for self defense.
Queensland man off the road
A 34-year-old Queensland man has been fined $500 and disqualified from driving for three months at Cowra Local Court.
Isaac Liam Baruffi of Bradshaw Street, Lutwyche, failed to appear before the court charged with a licence expired for two years or more offence, driving an unregistered Class A vehicle, driving an uninsured motor vehicle and driving a motor vehicle with an illicit drug present in his blood.
According to police facts, around 11.20pm on August 7, police were patrolling the Mid Western Highway when they observed a vehicle with no registration plates on it.
Police also sighted the vehicle travelling at high speeds before stopping it.
When asked about his licence, Baruffi told police he didn't have it with him but that he did have a Queensland licence.
"It's a learners and it is currently cancelled," Baruffi told police.
Police checks reveled the vehicle's registration had expired on September 3, 2018 and then had been cancelled on December 4, 2018.
A roadside drug test returned a positive detection to meth and a secondary test at Cowra Police Station also produced a positive reading to the same drug.
The remainder of the sample was sent to the Forensic and Analytical Science Service in Lidcombe which confirmed the sample contained cannabis and meth.
At the time Baruffi told police, "I had some marijuana yesterday and meth earlier today".
