The two sessions, which are targeted at local organisations of all sporting codes, are designed help clubs looking to expand, whether by increasing membership, upgrading facilities, accessing grants or recruiting to their committee.
Oragnised in conjunction with NSW Office of Sport and the Cowra Sport and Recreation Committee, the first session will be followed up with another seminar on Wednesday, December 18.
The Mayor of Cowra, Cr Bill West, believed there were good reasons to host the workshops.
"Council wishes to support our local sports clubs to plan for the future. Organisations always have a wish-list and preparing a strategic plan is a very important way to work towards ticking off some of those items," Cr West said in a press release.
He also pointed to the Cowra Motorcycle Racing Club as an example of a successful organisation that has enjoyed fruits of considered planning.
"Cowra Motorcycle Racing Club is an excellent example of an organisation with a well-prepared strategic plan. They were able to submit funding applications when opportunities arose because they had 'shovel-ready' plans," he said.
The two workshops will have different points of focus, so attendance at both sessions is encouraged by the council.
Both workshops will be held at the Cowra Services Club and start at 6pm. Interested parties should contact the Cowra Shire Council's Lisa Robertson at 6340 2069 or lrobertson@cowra.nsw.gov.au for more information.
