It's official - Cowra's very own Josh Maynard can throw his name alongside Jimmy Barnes, Troy Cassar-Daley and The Daisy Dukes who will be performing at Tullamore next month.

Mr Maynard was officially named as the winner of the Battle of the Bands competition for an opening spot at Jimmy Barnes' Tullamore concert, taking just under 30 per cent of the vote.
He said this opportunity would be one he wouldn't forget.
"I honestly can not thank everyone enough for giving me this opportunity and helping me accomplish it," he said.

"Thank you to everyone that got in, filled out the survey and took their time to show their support. Hopefully they can continue to help me make a big noise and let everyone know we are taking the Central West over to Tullamore.
"Stomp around there and make some noise and say hey look we're here.
"I'm not a person who would normally fan-girl but at the end of the day, it's a big jump for me, it's a big jump from going around pubs. I've played at some big wine festivals but this is going to be big, one to remember," her said.
Mr Maynard said he grew up idolising Jimmy Barnes and that he was over the moon to have the opportunity to open for him.
"This is something that I've been working towards for such a long time. I've done the kilometres, done the hard yards all off my own back," he said.
"You go out on a limb not knowing if people are going to show their support or like what you are doing, especially when you start hitting bigger classics.
"So to have people rally behind you, you can't describe it. It's people I may not know or have only had a five minute conversation that I may not remember.
"You try to remember so many people but you can't remember them all. To think these people have taken that five minute conversation carried it with them and then now when there's an opportunity for them to show their support, they jump on it, it's amazing," he said.
He said he was hoping to do Cowra proud and was looking forward to sharing his music with the people of Tullamore.
"I'm excited and letting myself be excited but at the same time I'm going to get there stand up on stage and present myself as grounded and calm as possible," he said.
"Here's some Australian stories that you don't know, but that's what we are all sitting here listening to.
"At the end of the day what John walker has written, what Jimmy has written have all been Australian stories, that's why they were so popular because they were out they're for the working class man.
For those who hadn't heard any of his music before Mr Maynard described it as a Folk/Alternative style of storytelling.
"I try and focus on a lot of Australian stories, they are based on other peoples' experiences as well as my own," he said.
"I would like to think of it as a very grounded, homey sort of sound that people can sit down and enjoy without feeling like they are listening to another country's style.
"I try to stay very strong to my Australian roots and not forget where I've come from, how I sound and how I've been brought up," he said.
