Having grown up between Forbes and Bogan Gate, Merrill gained an early appreciation of the stars, planets and other celestial objects in our pollution free skies.
She believes there are great tourism opportunities to be had by bringing people from the cities to our western area, to marvel at what they do not see in those heavily populated areas.

The skies have long played an important part in all human cultural backgrounds.
Navigation, astrology, ancient religious and ancestral beliefs are among the many topics Merrill will cover in her interesting address.
She will also discuss cultural sites around Cowra which she believes would be of interest to the wider public.
Merrill will make "the skies come alive" for everyone.
Merrill is a writer and professional associate with the Centre for Creative and Cultural Research at the University of Sydney. She co-founded Big Skies Collaboration (BSC), a visionary initiative to inspire new cultural, social, economic STEAM educational opportunities in communities west of the Great Dividing Range.
Her current BSC projects include The Skywriters Project, the inland Astro-Trail, a non fiction book she is writing and The Condo SkyFest with the Wiradjuri Study Centre.
This interesting afternoon will be held at the Cowra Services Club at 2pm.
