Played on Saturday, September 21, Brooke White was voted Player of the Match for her contribution in Mulwaree Bradfordville Kenmore (MBK) United Soccer Club's 6-2 win against Mittagong Yellow in Bowral.
White was dominant in the win, kicking two goals in a stand-out display of soccer skill and nous that helped deliver her team a premiership, with the scoreline suggesting that MBK United were far too strong for their opposition.
White also competed in athletics in the Cowra area, in addition to completing her schooling here, and is just one of several Cowra locals who are excelling regionally in their chosen sports, including Toby Nobes, who was recently part of a Group Seven premiership with the Kiama Knights in rugby league.
Other locals from Cowra at varying regional, interstate and international levels include Daniel Hughes, Amy Edgar and Alana Ryan (cricket), Ellie Carpenter (soccer), the Cahill brothers (horse racing), Nicole Lowe-Tarbert (martial arts), Matt Seears (shooting) and Guy Hubbard (hang gliding).
MBK United has also had several major successes as a club over the past month, with multiple juniors featuring in individual and Team of the Year honours, as well as Southern Branch representation, showing the club's overall strength in the Highlands Soccer Association.
It is also the club's 50th year, with celebrations taking place this Saturday at the Goulburn Worker's Club, which will feature food and music for attendees, as well as the opportunity to celebrate community soccer.
The team was founded in 1970 by staff of the Kenmore Hospital, and features teams from the under 6s all the way through to open age competition.
