While the effects of online shopping and big businesses on local retailers continues to be monitored and discussed heavily in the media, one industry that appears to be immune from those influences is the hotel industry. One such pub is the Cowra Hotel which continues to go from strength to strength on the back of solid investment into the products and services provided, and the building itself. When Brad O'Connor's son, Brenton, wanted to get into the hotel business, Brad was keen to give him a hand. "I'm from the Northern Beaches but my mum is from Cowra so I know the town well," he said. "Brenton had spoken about doing something so Brenton decided to buy it, and I've given him a hand to give it a good refresh".
Brad, who is a plumber by trade and has eight years experience managing pubs, thought that the Cowra Hotel had great potential. "It really has just been a matter of working with what we had and giving it a revamp," he said. The hotel now has six new taps in the bar, taking the total to 12, and features a wide range of beers from mainstream brands like Carlton and VB through to craft beer and cider. The latest addition on offer is Asahi's "Two Suns" which is exclusive in town to the Cowra Hotel. Known for its distinctive crisp taste and dry finish, Brad said at $4.50 for a schooner all day, everyday - you can't go wrong.
The dynamic duo have also put in a paperless TAB complete with the latest technology including touch screens. There will be plenty of entertainment on offer across the week with the Sunday Pool Competition allowing the best in Cowra to battle it out for bragging rights, while the Darts Competition will also offer some keen adversaries.

The innovative team have also renovated the adjoining bottle shop which is now part of the Super Cellars group, and Brad said it is already going gang-busters. "It's the first time the bottle shop has offered full drive through service for over 20 years," he said. "It's great to see it open again and the customers love it because it has the best access in town".
Bottle shop Manager, Sandi Graham, was also excited about the revamp and saying the 'easy in and easy out' access was great for patrons and that the helpful team was aiming to not only provide the best service in town but also be the best price point with plenty of specials on offer.
